Rapha Workshops
Rapha Workshops are the entry point to Rapha courses. They are relatively simple, relaxed, easy to understand and grasp. They are highly suitable for those who wish to understand emotions but are not yet ready to explore emotions more deeply or learn in-depth emotional self-help skills. Below is an introduction to Rapha Workshops:
1. Emotions Quartet Foundational Reading Group (Mandarin)
Objective: To centre on understanding and becoming acquainted with emotions.
Theme: This book offers an in-depth exploration of emotions. Beginning with how emotions function, the author guides readers step by step to examine what emotions truly are. It is a serious academic work, drawing extensively on scholarly references and various psychological theories to help readers understand the multidimensional nature of emotions. At the same time, to enable readers to apply the material for personal benefit, the book includes numerous growth exercises. It is an excellent reference for learning about emotions.
2. “Listening to Emotions” Workshop (Cantonese)
Purpose: People around us are constantly speaking — but are you able to hear the emotions or true needs behind their words? This workshop helps participants understand four different personality expression types (explosive type, complaining type, joking type, and frozen type) and discern the underlying messages of their hearts.
Purpose: When facing certain family members, authority figures, or those who have hurt us, we often develop fixed patterns of reaction. How can these patterns be changed?
3. “Experiencing Emotions” Workshop (Cantonese)
This workshop helps us become aware of emotions in the body that lie outside our conscious awareness. These unacknowledged parts often function as automatic patterns that control our fixed responses. Let us examine them together.
4. “Trapped Struggles During the Pandemic” Workshop (Cantonese)
Purpose: To improve marital interaction, enhance communication skills, and deepen mutual understanding.
This workshop helps participants to:
A. Identify the sources of stress during the pandemic
B. Recognise their reaction patterns under stress
C. Explore the interaction between the Weak-Me and the Bad-Me
5. A Closer Look at the Marital Relationship
This workshop series helps spouses find the correct “prescription lenses”: to rediscover themselves, their partners, and their interaction patterns, and to learn how to step out of the four major pressures — emotional pressure, perceptual pressure, vicious cycle pressure, and cognitive pressure — thereby improving marital interaction, enhancing communication skills, and fostering deeper mutual understanding.
I. “You Wouldn’t Know Unless I Say It, and I Only Know When You Tell Me!” Workshop
Is communication with your spouse becoming increasingly difficult and do minor issues frequently lead to cold wars or conflicts? This workshop helps couples recognise how the lack of expressing true feelings and needs results in either intense or suppressed emotional responses in themselves or their spouse, leading to misunderstanding and the breakdown of constructive communication cycles. Through this workshop, Dr. Katherine Kot helps couples express their genuine inner feelings and needs, so that they may truly understand themselves and each other.
II. “In Marital Interaction, What Do You Value Most?” Workshop
Do conversations with your spouse feel like talking past each other, no matter how much you speak? What can be done? This workshop emphasises that healthy marital interaction requires mutual understanding and respect. Through this workshop, Dr. Katherine Kot helps participants discover both their own and their spouse’s deeper needs, so that they may live in alignment and learn to understand and accept one another.
III. “Breaking the Vicious Cycle in Marital Interaction” Workshop
Does your relationship feel as though it has fallen into a “trapped struggle,” leaving you discouraged and without hope? This workshop helps couples identify their sources of stress, recognise their reaction patterns under stress, and understand how these patterns interact with their spouse’s patterns to form a vicious cycle. Through careful analysis within the workshop, Dr. Katherine Kot guides couples in learning how to break free from these vicious cycles.
IV. “Rediscovering the Dynamics of Love Between Husband and Wife” Workshop
Has your relationship become functional and lost the motivation of love? This workshop helps couples identify when the feeling of love was lost, and how emotional wounds that were not acknowledged gradually led to numbness and the inability to love. Under Dr. Katherine Kot’s guidance, couples share their inner wounds and learn to accept and embrace both their own wounded selves and that of their spouse.
